Family camp at Redwood Christian Park has been a cherished tradition for the Hooper family for nearly five decades. A place where generations come together to rest, reconnect, and be renewed.

“I have been going to RCP for 16 years now,” Bree shares. “Coming here has just been such an amazing getaway from the regular pace of life and also just being surrounded by family. It has always been a place where we all can come and slow down and just be with each other.”

Family Camp Traditions Across Generations

Bree’s story is only the latest chapter in a legacy that began in 1975, when her aunt, Martha Johnson, first arrived at camp with her parents. “It was the highlight of our summer,” Martha recalls. “When I went to college and later got married, I brought my husband back, and we raised our two daughters here as well. We even had the joy of serving the youth at camp together.”

For Martha, RCP has been more than just a summer tradition. It has been a source of strength through life’s seasons. “We went through a really difficult time as a family, and the very next summer, the people here came alongside us. They loved us, encouraged us, and were there for us even outside of camp. That was such a blessing.”

Why Families Keep Returning to Redwood Christian Park

Bree’s hope for the future mirrors her aunt’s love for the camp. “I pray that people continue to realize the goodness that is here. I have seen it with my own family having multiple generations come to RCP and I hope to have that with my family too. I want to see more people come, especially younger people, who will experience what I have had and then keep bringing their families back so that the camp keeps growing.”

The Hooper family’s story is a picture of what makes RCP unique. It is not just a place to visit, it is a community that carries you year after year. From worship under the redwoods to late-night games and heartfelt conversations, RCP has been shaping lives for 75 years and the Hoopers are committed to carrying that legacy forward.

Redwood Christian Park is about people, generations, and the lasting work God does through family camp experiences that bring loved ones together year after year.
